Key Stage 2
At Key Stage 2, students will receive 1 hour of ICT per week, which is taught in mixed ability class groups. These lessons are taught in one of the main ICT suites, so each student will have a computer to themselves. Every year, students will be taught about e-safety to ensure they understand how to be safe online. In addition to this, there is often a free computer room throughout the day, which other subject teachers frequently book for their lessons. A full topic/curriculum list is available for each Year group, please see attached below.
In Year 5, students will begin by learning about our computer system as they will all have their own user area to maintain.
Students will be taught a variety of different and useful skills, including: how to use spreadsheets, make a presentation, use simple databases, as well learning about control.

In Year 6, students build upon the skills they have learnt in Year 5, receiving a more in-depth knowledge, while also learning additional skills, such as animation and sequencing.

Target Setting and assessment:
In Key Stage 2, students work within their form classes, so work will be differentiated within their class, depending on their ability. Each half-term will include a different topic and at the end of the topic, their teacher will assess the students on those specific skills. This will enable teachers to provide more specific feedback to each individual.
The more able:
In the classroom, work is differentiated to make sure that all students are appropriately supported and challenged. We have a wide range of resources available to enable us to do this.
Support is provided and targeted at the students in line with their ability and any particular needs.
